Ghosts of Halloweens Past Strikes Back

(You probaly wonder where is Jono in all these Halloween past pics, well I have his pre digital shots in his scrapbook. He became a teenager during my digital camera era, so he might have been at a football game, a friend's house, or just to cool to let me take his picture. If you have ever known a teenage boy, you completely understand! I did however find this one of him on his facebook.

An Inch Away!

Your little brother has always been your "little brother" but what is he when he is NO LONGER LITTLER than you?

Left handed people are in their Right Minds

I had a conference with Anna Banana's teacher today.  After 9 weeks in first grade she is well above her grade level in math, reading, spelling, and language!  I am so proud of her!  However we have one area which needs alotta work!  You see I have one of those left handed kids.  Lefty since birth.  As a baby I would place a spoon in her right hand and at 6 months old she would switch it to the left hand, I'd switch it back to the right, then she'd switch back to the left.  This went on for a year.  Then same thing happened when she began coloring.  She'd pick up a color with her left hand, I'd switch it to the right hand, she'd switch back to the left, I'd switch it, she'd switch it back.  And so it went.  I thought I could train her to be right handed, but she is a true lefty.  Which leads to our area of weakness:  those darn fine motor skills.  She has horrible handwriting and she has difficulty with letter placement and spacing when writing sentences.  Her teacher encouraged me to find ways to exercise those little fingers and improve that hand eye coordination.  So today I taught her how to do embroidery.  I picked up a little iron on pattern that I thought she would enjoy and now 2 hours later she is still going.  She loves it!
(will post the finished work soon)

So Long Summer

The kids were out of school for fall break and so we decided to take off to Dauphin Island, AL before the rain brought the cool weather in. We went with Ross's little sister Becca and her family. We had a blast!
It was a perfect ending to our summer!

REALLY?!?

The heat index here yesterday in South Mississippi was
ONE OH THREE!
That is 103 degrees on October 7.
(You have got to be kidding me.)
So while the rest of the country is preparing for winter,
this is how we will be spending our fall break this weekend!

Not as Easy

Oh let me count all the difficulties today
1. It has rained the last 5 days
2. It was still cloudy
3. Tanner doesn't like to wear collared shirts
4. Tanner doesn't care to have his hair brushed
5. Tanner can't play with the camera for an hour
Not too bad considering he only let me take 4 shots, I will try again when it is drier and sunnier. Maybe then I'll get a little more camera love from this boy!

Happy Halloween

Shaving

Usually your 14 year old does not want her mother to announce to the world that she is shaving but today I am telling everyone we know that Addison is SHAVING. . .
SECONDS that is.
This weekend at her high school swim meet in Biloxi she swam 2 of her best times ever
200 free @ 2 minutes 26 seconds (6 seconds down from 2 weeks ago and 8th place in her event)
100 free @ 1:09 flat (her goal is to break 1:09 and she is sooo close!)
So Congrats Baby!
Just keep Swimming!

BUSTED

Every fall we put 4 scarecrows on our front porch. We've had them for years - 2 boys - 2 girls. Anna Reese calls them by name Jonathan, Addison, Tanner, and Anna Reese. We have had them for 5 years now. As long as Anna Reese can remember they have come out of the attic in early October to adorn our door with some fall cheer. When she was little she would carry them around the yard and pretend they were her friends. She loved them so much she was one of them for halloween one year.
So it was a little devastating to come home from school and find this
Oh skipper you are in big trouble mister!
